Although highlighting a severe case of diliquency, compared to my upbringing, Run Baby Run highlights the dangers posed to our society, but also the answer to how we respond to those dangers. I am not naieve that my faith in the Christ is looked on by some as naive in and of itself, however, there is power in the name of Jesus. This book is a testament to that faith and what God can do if given the chance to do so. Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and not will be opened. I first read The Cross and the Switchblade. I waited some time before I started reading Run Baby Run. There was a lot to digest on the book above. The first 9 chapters of RBR were very heavy, but I had to read them. They were honest and straight from the horses mouth. His conversion was inspiring. After this his work was no bed of roses. He lived for and by the Holy Spirit. I recommend this book to anyone.
What a beautiful story of redemption and forgiveness. A gang banger that had so much anger and hatred could only be transformed by the lover of his soul.
We buy these up like candy whenever we see them in good used condition and have given out countless copies out to friends, family and even strangers. It's a powerful story of Gods love and redemption. It's a MUST READ.
Let me tell you something. I am an ex gang-banger and this book really helped to inspire me through some of the toughest times of my life. If you want an insight into what it means to be enticed and enamored, ultimately caught up by the allure of a criminal lifestyle this is the book for you. But, you should be advised that a good reader will adhere to the authors subtle admissions for a desire for a different destiny.
Okay I am a bit biased, but this is the best book in the world (next to the Bible, of course). I've given out hundreds of these to people who feel alone or trapped in their situations. For those of you who have read the Cross and the Switchblade (or watched the movie), I must say this is better than both put together. It is a thrilling, suspenseful read, but best of all, your emotions are not wasted because it is a very true story. You won't want to put it down once you've started! Buy it today.
This is an amazing book. Really touched me deep. As a mother who raised 5 children which 4 of my 5 were in gangs I wished I would of had this book then. Fortunately 3 of my children are doing wonderful although my oldest still in prison. Can't seem to change his heart. I still pray for him each and every day for him. Thank you Nicky Cruz may you reach others with your word.
